On September 19th, 2017, a representative of Weeks & Associates observed the
header installment over the new sliding door at the rear of the residence at the
referenced site. Observation indicate the header and associated framing is in
substantial accordance with the recommendations for the project by Weeks &
Associates

As requested I have reviewed the framing requirements for a new 12' wide
sliding door to be installed in the west wall of the house.
DISCUSSION
The sliding door is to be installed in the west wall of the one-story portion at the
west side of the house. The west wall at the location of the door supports a
shed roof that spans approximately 16 feet. I ,
RECOMMENDATIONS
Based on the proposed opening and design roof loads of 30 psf snow and 20
psf dead load it is recommended a (2)-1 3/4 x 9 1/2" LVL header be used. 2-2x4
trimmers and 3-2x4 king studs should be provided each end. Solid block under
the trimmers to the foundation below.
