In response to your request, I met with you at the referenced site to evaluate and
comment on items of repair identified by the Inspector.
1. The Inspector's comment concerning blocking at the deck joists' exterior
support is correct.
Deck #7 & #8:
2. It is acceptable to notch the support beam for 3-
2x8s as shown in Photo 1.
3. The hanger attachment of the 2x12 to 2x8 ledger
as shown in Photo 2 is acceptable.
3. It is acceptable to use Simpson hanger in lieu of
Simpson A34 shown in design detail 2/S2.
Deck #10:
4. The redwood 2x12 sistered to.the deck joist as
shown in Photo 4 is a finish and need not be
supported on its end.
5. A face mounted, hidden flange hanger for a triple
2x10 joist may be a Simpson HUCQ210-3-SDS.
