Re: Foundation inspection at the above residence
Dear Mr. Honn:
On December 12, 2017 I observed the soil at the bottom of
the excavation for the foundation system designed by our firm for
the above project. This soil consisted of a sandy clay, confirming
our assumption that this soil is capable of supporting a maximum
soil bearing pressure of 2,000 pounds per square foot per the 2015
International Residential Code Table R401.4.1. Accordingly, there
is no need to change the thickened edge slab foundation system.
I also observed the footing widths and reinforcing steel
placed in the foundation forms at the subject site. All observed
footing widths and foundation wall reinforcement met the
specifications for size, type and installation as per the plans
on file at the project site.
