Sarah,
The existing decks were separated by a 6' cedar privacy fence. The HOA is wanting the decks to be reconstructed in the
same manner. The house structure has brick veneer from the concrete foundation to the top of the wall. I am requesting
a fire separation variance for the decks.
The existing decks also had a continuous beam on the outside edge of the deck with a single post at the junction of
where the property line is located. I am wanting to use the existing concrete piers on the outside edge of the deck as it
was with the existing deck. From my inspection they are approx. 12" in diameter at the surface of the ground. This
would also mean that there is just one post at the property line that the exterior beam is setting on. The intermediate
beam will be installed on new piers that are located 10' from the edge of the house.
