Gentlemen:
On September 16, 1999, a representative of Scott, Cox & Associates, Inc. conducted visual spot
observations of the drilling and installation of the ten (10) inch diameter piers for the new
residence under construction at Lot 31, The Ponds Subdivision, (3221 Reed Grass Court), a
subdivision of Fort Collins, Colorado. The purpose of these observations was to assure that the
piers were drilled correctly for the subsurface conditions encountered and to assure that the piers
were constructed according to the specifications on the foundation plan by Foundation
Engineering, Project No. 1197-38-02-01.
The pier drilling operations encountered claystone bedrock at depths of (0) feet below the base
of various excavation levels. The piers were drilled a total minimum length of sixteen (16) feet
with a minimum bedrock embedment of seven (7) feet, whichever was greater. Groundwater
levels were encountered in the borings. Casing of the borings was not required. Concrete was
being placed with a concrete pumper. Reinforcing steel was being installed in each pier.
As a result of our observations, it is our opinion that the construction of those piers observed
were in general conformance with the plans and specifications. If you have an
our observations or this report, feel free to contact our office.
Sincerely, IReviewed b
