Dear Mr. Karns:

As requested, an exploratory boring was drilled and laboratory testing of the fill material placed at
the subject site was conducted. It is our understanding that the requirements for construction of a
footing foundation to support the subject structure presented in Reference 1 were followed prior to
drilling.
The boring was drilled on July 23, 2014 in the approximate center of the building pad approximately
2 feet below the sidewalk. We understand the depth of the basement excavation will be about 7 feet
below the sidewalk. The boring encountered the following material:
0to 15' Fill (moisture treated), clay, stiff to very stiff, sandy to very sandy, with
scattered gravel, moist, brown
15' to 181/2' Sand, loose to medium dense, silty to clayey, with scattered gravel, moist to
wet, brown to red brown
181/z' to 20' Sand and Gravel, dense, clean to silty, wet, brown to red brown

Ground water was encountered at a depth of approximately 17 feet at the time of drilling.
The fill samples were tested for swell/consolidation upon wetting under a 1,000 pounds per square
foot (psfl load. The results of the swell/consolidation tests are summarized in the table below.

Based upon our observation and testing of the fill during placement (Reference 2) and the data
presented above, it is our opinion that the fill is appropriate for foundation construction of the
proposed residential structure. The recommendations presented in the"Soil and Foundation Study"
(Reference 1) should be followed for the design and construction of a footing foundation. All other
recommendations for a footing site should continue to be followed.
