PROJECT NUMBER: 11-5450
SUBJECT: Excavation Observation of Lot 18, Raven View Subdivision, 1926 Corvid Way,
City of Fort Collins, Larimer County, Colorado
REFERENCED SOIL REPORT: EEC 04-01-247
SOILS EXPOSED IN EXCAVATION: Slightly moist, silty clay
On March 24, 2011, we visually observed the excavation for the proposed residence at the above
referenced site: At the time of our observation the excavation was partially complete. The
excavation ranged in depth from two (2) to seven (7) feet below original grade.
Based on our observation the soils appear consistent with the above referenced soils report which
recommends that the structure be supported by a continuous spread footing foundation bearing on
native, undisturbed soils.
An exterior perimeter drain should be installed based on the soils encountered at this site. It is
further advised that backfill around the foundation should be compacted to reduce settlement and
maintain a positive slope away from the foundation walls. Downspouts and sill cocks should
discharge into splash blocks or long downspout extensions that extend beyond backfill limits.

RE: Observation of Perimeter Drain at Lot 18, Raven View Subdivision, 1926 Corvid Way,
City of Fort Collins, Larimer County, Colorado
CDS Project No. 11-5450
Dear Wayne:
On April 6, 2011, we observed the partially completed interior perimeter drain system and damp
proofing at the above referenced site.
The drain system consisted of perforated corrugated flexible polyethylene pipe surrounded by
gravel. The drain appeared to be located at to below the footing level and is to discharge into an interior
sump pit. In addition, it appeared that the damp -proofing adequately covered the foundation wall. The
interior sump pit was not installed at the time of this inspection, but the drain line was brought into the
basement.
As a result of our observations, the perimeter drain system and damp -proofing appeared to be in
general conformance with the engineer's recommendations.
If you have any questions, feel free to contact our office.
