Re: Foundation Excavation Observation
1732 Green Spring Drive
Fossil Lake Subdivision
Northern Colorado Geotech Project No. 026-05
On August 14, 2009, a representative of Northern Colorado Geotech performed an excavation
observation for a residence under construction at the above referenced site in the Fossil Lake
Subdivision in Fort Collins, Colorado.
The soil exposed at the upper and lower footing levels consisted of sandy lean clay. These materials
are similar to those encountered by Northern Colorado Geotech during our subsurface exploration at
the site (Project No. 026-05, dated March 28, 2007). Based on our observations and the
recommendations of the geotechnical engineering report, it is our opinion that the proposed residence
may be supported by a spread footing foundation system. The foundation should be designed in
accordance with the recommendations and specifications provided in the geotechnical engineering
report.
Groundwater was encountered approximately 2'/2 feet below the lower footing level. Therefore, we
recommend the installation of an exterior perimeter drain around the lower level of the structure. The
dewatering system should be constructed in accordance with recommendations of the geotechnical
engineering report.
