Re: Monolithic Garage Slab Excavation & Reinforcing Observation

Dear Mrs. Saxerud:
On September 16, 2009, we visually observed the excavation and foundation steel reinforcing at
the above referenced location. The purpose of this observation was to verify that the bearing
capacity of the soil was adequate for the support of the monolithic garage slab foundation and
that the steel reinforcing was placed as shown on the foundation plan by Crown Engineering, llc.,
job number 100-05-02-01, dated 8/14/09.
At the time of our observation, the excavation for the thickened edge monolithic garage slab had
been completed. The excavations revealed brown and sandy clay to the depths excavated, which
was to approximately the depth shown on the foundation plans.
It is our opinion that the subsurface conditions exposed in the excavation appear to be suitable
for the placement of the foundation as designed by Crown Engineering, llc., job number 100-05-
02-01, dated August 14, 2009. Additionally, the steel reinforcement was observed to be in
general conformance with the above referenced foundation plan.
