Gentlemen:
On November 5, 2003, a representative of Scott, Cox & Associates, Inc. conducted visual spot
observations of the drilling and installation of the ten (10) inch diameter piers for the new
residence under construction at Lot 173, Registry Ridge 3rd, (1508 Sea Wolf Court), a
subdivision of Fort Collins, Colorado. The purpose of these observations was to assure that the
piers were drilled correctly for the subsurface conditions encountered and to assure that the piers
were constructed according to the specifications on the foundation plan by MNA, Inc., Project
No.:4827.
The pier drilling operations encountered silty sandstone bedrock at depths of five (5) feet to
twelve (12) feet below the base of various excavation levels. The piers were drilled a total
minimum length of twenty five (25) feet in non -basement areas, twenty one (21) feet in basement
areas with a minimum bedrock embedment of eleven (11) feet, whichever was greater.
Groundwater levels were encountered in the borings at depths of nineteen (19) feet to twenty
founsix (24.6) feet below the excavation. Casing of the borings was not required. Concrete was
being placed with a concrete pumper. Reinforcing steel was being installed in each pier.
As a result of our observations, it is our opinion that the construction of those piers observed
were in general conformance with the plans and specifications. If you have any questions about
our observations or this report, feel free to contact our office.
Sincerely,
SCOTT, COX & ASSOCIATES, INC.
