Mr. Barkus:
On June 5, 2003, Earth Engineering Consultants, Inc. (EEC) personnel provided
construction observation services for the referenced project. Those services included
observation of the garage grade beams prior to placing cast -in -place concrete. At the
time of our observations, the grade beams were excavated to a depth of approximately 26
to 32 inches below existing site grade. The trenches were approximately 8 inches wide
with an approximate 10'/2 inch wide trench at the garage common wall. Two #5
horizontal rebars were placed at the bottom of the excavation and supported by blocks to
maintain clearance of the soil. Lap lengths were checked and appeared to meet the
minimum required lengths. It is our understanding the final 4 to 10 inches of grade beam
height required to meet the minimum 36 inch height will be formed and poured at a later
date. At the time of our observations, it appeared that the prepared areas were completed
in general accordance with the plans and specifications for the referenced project.
