In accordance with your request this office visited the referenced address on September 15, 2003. The
purpose of our visit was to observe and evaluate the (Foundation system and soil report in order to
make recou=ndatioxas for preventative remedial construction.
OBSERVATION:
During our visit we did not observe any damages to the foundation system or to the interior and
exterior finishes that would be indicative of foundation settlement. The brick veneer at the front of
the home appears to be supported by the front porch slab. The main sewer line exits the home near
the center of the front foundarion wall of the crawlspaoe common with the front porch. The level
survey performed on the bottom of the first floor joists did not reveal any signs of foundation
settlement at the front of the home.
E ALUMON I RECOMMENDATION:
Based on our review of the soil report prepared by Kleinfeldsr, Inc. dated August 13, 2003, we
recommend helical piers be installed along the front porch and :northeast quadrant of the erawlspace
in accordance with details SK•1 and SK-2 attached. The piers are to prevent future movement and
should not be used to re -level the home. A, push -pile pier system may be used as an alternative to the
helical piers. Submit alternative pier system specifications for approval.
Upon proper implementation of these trmedial measures the load bearing capabilities of the repaired
portion of the foundation system will meet or exceed the original load bearing capabilities of the
original foundation system.
