Re: Garage Addition
Dear Mr. Schmidt,
Per our phone conversation, you stated that there was no new construction taking place .at
the above referenced property. A site inspection revealed a large addition to the
northwest area of the garage that extends from the garage to the north chain link fence. 'A
structure such as this would have required a permit, however a search of our records :does
not indicate a. permit was ever issued. I am enclosing a copy of your site plan that we
have oxi file, I call your attention to the area circled in red.. This is the area where the
addition in question is located. It appears that this addition was constructed without
pernit and is in direct violation of the 1997 Uniform Building Code section 106.1
adopted by the City of Fort Collins. Consider this letter notification that the above
referenced property is in violation. A permit shall be obtained or the structure removed
within thirty (30) days of receipt of this letter. If you can not comply within the specified
time limit please contact this office and explain any mitigating circumstances you feel
may be cause for an extension, otherwise you will be served a court summons and be
subject to a maximum fine of $1000.00 per day per violation.
