Dear Mr. Ray:
we have visually inspected the residence at the above referenced
location.
The home consists of a porch on a crawlspace. Currently a covered
porch separates the garage from the main structure. The roof system
of the porch bears on the slab. No foundation wall has been
provided for either the porch or garage.
It is our understanding that the porch is to be enclosed and heated
which by code requires a thirty (30) inch frost wall. The wall
should be eight (8) inches thick x thirty (30) inches deep with one
(1) f5 top and bottom. The foundation wall should extend at least.
two (2) inches under the slab providing additional support for the
slab edge as shown on the sketch below. The roof should be
supported on the new wall.
