Dear Mr. Bartlet:
We have reviewed the plans for a single -story addition to the above -referenced residence. The
addition will be approximately 18' x 30' supported by a block foundation system. Floor joists will
be 11-7/8" and will span 18'-0".
Based upon assumed non -expansive soil conditions with at least 1,500 psf bearing, we recommend
8" x 16" footings with two (2) 44's continuous. The foundation wall will be four (4) courses of block
with 44's at 4'-0" vertical and a bond at the top with one (1) 45 bar continuous.
Soils conditions should be verified prior to placement of concrete. Attachment to the existing stone
foundation is not required due to no new bearing on the existing foundation. An l l-7/8" Microllam
header will span the new 13'-0"opening in the existing end wall.
