FIRE PROTECTION SYSTEM: NFPA 18 UBS 38.1 ICBO a. The entire project is protected with a wet sprinkler system which is designed to the requirements of the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), the Owner's insurance underwriter, Factory Mutual Insurance Association (FMIA), and the local requirements. The sprinkler system will be hydraulically designed to provide the following: 1. For the retail and office area, 0.15 GPM per square foot over 2,500 square feet using 1650 F heads in the office area, 2120 F heads in the retail area, and 2860 F heads in the Inventory Control Room. A hose stream allowance of 500 GPM shall be provided. The protection area shall not exceed 130 square feet per head. ii. For the storage areas (stock rooms), 0.25 GPM per square foot over 3,000 square feet using 2860 F heads. A hose stream allowance of 500 GPM shall be provided. The protection area shall not exceed 100 square feet per head b. All electrical rooms will be sprinklered C. The main water service shall have a through -wall post indicator type shutoff valve and a detector check valve. The building will be split into three zones with three risers each having a separate electric flow switch and through -wall post indicator type shutoff valve. All valves shall have supervisory switches. d. On the sprinkler riser is a supervisory switch which is connected to an electronic devise (modem) which automatically signals (telephone line) the local monitoring station. Brian R.
