January 7, 2000 US Home Corporation 118 E. 291h Street, Suite F Loveland, Colorado 80538 Project No:2250-27-27-03 Gentlemen: consulting engineers On December 23, 1999, a representative of Scott, Cox & Associates, Inc. conducted visual spot observations of the drilling and installation of the ten (10) inch diameter piers for the new residence under construction at Lot 47, Shenandoah, (6902 Egyptian), a subdivision of Fort Collins, Colorado. The purpose of these observations was to assure that the piers were drilled correctly for the subsurface conditions encountered and to assure that the piers were constructed according to the specifications on the foundation plan by KLP Engineering, Project 4027/Full Basement. The pier drilling operations encountered clayey siltstone bedrock at depths of six (6) feet to fourteen (14) feet below the base of various excavation levels. The piers were drilled a total minimum length of sixteen (16) feet with a minimum bedrock embedment of eight (8) feet, whichever was greater. Groundwater levels were encountered in the borings at depths of thirteen (13) feet to fifteen (15) feet below the excavation. Casing of the borings was not required. Concrete was being placed with a concrete pumper. Reinforcing steel was being installed in each pier. As a result of our observations, it is our opinion that the construction of those piers observed were in general conformance with the plans and specifications. If you have any questions about our observations or this report, feel free to contact our office. Sincerely, SCOTT, COX & ASSOCIATES, INC.
