We have visually_ observed_ the drilling of several of the eighteen (18) inch diameter, straight shaft
piers supporting the church under construction at Lot 1, Block 1, Heart of the Rockies, a subdivision
of Fort Collins, Colorado. These observations were performed on June 28, July 6, July 7, July 8, and
July 9, 1999.
Exposed soils measured from original grade consist generally of three to eleven (3-11) feet of fill and
a very silty clay over a siltstone bedrock which extends to the depths drilled, approximately twenty
four to twenty six(24-26) feet.
All piers observed were plumb, properly cleaned and of adequate length and penetration as specified
on our foundation plan, Job No. 1044-91-01-01. Water was encountered during drilling. Therefore
we recommend that concrete be placed immediately after drilling of each individual caisson. Casing
was not required.
