Diedrich 71S Smith Street Fort Collins, CO 80521 Dear Mr. Diedrich: I am writing in reply to the complaint you filed regarding the. property at 531 East Laurel. As you know, I had sent a letter to Don Knotwell on the 14th of July, indicating that I would like a response within two (2) weeks. I had received no response and so I called his home.. I spoke to Mrs. Knotwell, trying to get a little more information about her husband's work. Mr. Knotwell is employed by two different plumbing companies. He does not have an office in his home, he does not have any employees, and he does not advertise. Therefore, he would not be classified as having a home occupation. I have asked Mrs. Knotwell to caution her husband about excessive noise and also about creating a traffic hazard by parking too close to the alley. However, the City has no ordinance regulating the number of vehicles a person may own, and the street parking is public. I am sorry there is not more I can do in this matter. Collins, CO 80521 Dear Sir: It has come to my attention that you may be operating a business out of your home. While it is possible to have an office in your home for certain types of businesses, you must first apply for a Certificate of Occupancy for a Home Occupation, and you must be able to meet all the requirements set forth for a Home Occupation, Section 118-81 C, Code of the City of Fort Collins. I have enclosed an application for you. However, it seems that you may now be in violation of several of the requirements. I understand that you are storing all kinds of equipment on your lot and up and down the street. You would be in violation of requirements number 2 and number 6. Also, I have received complaints concerning the noise of the machines, especially early in the morning. This would violate requirement number 7. I must therefore require that you cease operations of your business from your home within two weeks or take the necessary steps to bring yourself into compliance. If I may be of any assistance, you may contact me at,484-4220, extension 227. MJL:Zlh Very Truly Yours, Maria J. LeValley Zoning Officer 100% Recycled Bond
