Mr. Greenwood stated the building was calculated on the basis as a retail store and now there would possibly be a community room in the basement and possibly a restaurant. He felt the exits for these would be ok. He stated there were 64 linear feet of exit required and 80 linear feet being provided. MOTION MADE by William Brenner that a variance to eliminate the requirement for 1—hour corridor walls be approved based upon the following additional safety features: 1. Approximately 1000/ of additional lineal feet of exiting will be provided.' 2. Length to exits — considerably shorter distance to exits than the maximum allowed by Code. 3. Monitored early —warning fire —detection system. 4. The large ratio of public exitway area to leaseable space = 1 sq.ft. of exit to 4.5 sq.ft. gross leaseable area. 5.- Design concept in which parallel exit ways totaling from 24 to 36 feet in width lead to exterior exits and are connected by several cross corridors. 6., Approved automatic fire sprinkler system provided throughout the building. 7. Owners agreement that no obstructions will be placed in exit ways other than those inidcated on the approved plans reviewed Building Board of Appeals. SECONDED by Richard Hollar.
