As you requested, on August 5, 2013, Earth Engineering Company, Inc. (EEC) personnel
visited the referenced site to evaluate the proposed foundation bearing materials at the
referenced address. The results of the site observations completed by EEC personnel are
included with this report.
On August 5, 2013, EEC personnel observed foundation bearing materials for the
foundation footings for the referenced residence. We understand the residence will be a
lightly loaded wood frame structure constructed on a full basement. At the time of our
field observations, the building area had been excavated to approximate foundation -
bearing elevation and the foundation footings were already in place. The garage foundation
bearing level was at a depth of approximately 3 feet below present site grades. Brown
sandy clay soils were encountered at that location. The materials encountered at the
basement foundation bearing level consisted of light brown sandy clay soils. A hand auger
boring was excavated to a depth of approximately 3 feet below the basement foundation
bearing level which revealed like materials to the depths explored. Dynamic cone tests
indicated the in -sandy clay soils were medium stiff to stiff in consistency. A relatively
undisturbed sample was obtained at the approximate garage foundation bearing level for
swell/consolidation testing.
The laboratory swell/consolidation testing indicated the sandy clay soils at the garage
foundation bearing level had low potential for swelling with increase in moisture content at
current moisture/density conditions.

Earth, Engineering Company,, Inc,
The materials observed in the excavation were generally consistent with those outlined in
the soils report prepared by Earth Engineering Company, Inc., dated April 23, 2013. Based
on the results of the outlined field testing and observation, it is our opinion the in -situ
materials could be used for support of the footing foundations using a design maximum net
allowable total load soil bearing pressure of 1,500 psf.
We appreciate the opportunity to be of service to you on this project. If you have any

As requested, Earth Engineering Company, Inc. (EEC) personnel have completed the
construction observation services you requested for the referenced project. Those services
included observations of the foundation drain placement and damp proofing at the referenced
address.. The results.of those observations are included with this report.
On August 30, 2013, EEC personnel observed the foundation drain for the referenced project.
The foundation drain consisted of 4-inch flexible perforated pipe placed around the below grade
exterior perimeter of the structure and was connected to a basement sump pit. The drain line was
covered with a filter sock and was bedded in gravel. The gravel bedded was also covered with
.filter fabric.. The damp proofing consisted of grey spray -on coating that appeared to cover all
exterior below, grade areas of the baseriienf walls.
We appreciate the opportunity to be of service to you on this.project. If you have any questions
regarding this report, or if we can be of further service to you in any way, please do not hesitate to
