let When loading the head side of a St screw, assemblies
B. D, and F can be increased by 30%.
(5) Far beams up to 14' deep, maximum.
(6) Assembly F is not recommended for TinnumStrande LSL or
Parallame PSL.
Uniform Load Design Example
First, check allowable load tables on pages 16-33 to verify
that three pieces can carry the total load of 715 pit with
proper live load deflection criteria. Maximum load applied to
either outside member is 415 Fit. For a 3-ply, fah" assembly,
two rows of 10d (0.128" x 31 nails at 12' ox, center is good
for only 280 plf. Therefore, use three rows of Fold (0.128" x 3")
nails at 12' o c (good for 415 pit).
Alternative: Two rows of 1h` A307 bolts or 30" USP WS
screws at 19.2' on -center.
MULTIPLE -MEMBER CONNECTIONS FOR TOP -LOADED BEAMS
When fasteners are required on bath sides, stagger
fasteners on the second side so they fall halfway
between fasteners on the first side.
Load must b r applied evenly
across entire beam width.
Otherwise, use connections
for side -loaded beams
Multiple pieces can be nailed or bolted together
10 to form a header or beam of the required size,
up to a maximum width of 7"
