The drilled piers were observed for pier diameter, length, bearing strata, plumb, and condition. We observed piers along the north and southwest corner of basement. Piers were observed to be 12-inch diameter and 35 feet in length at the locations observed. Groundwater was encountered during the drilling, and placement of concrete was accomplished by means of a concrete pump truck as each pier was drilled. It is our opinion that the drilled piers we observed were constructed in general accordance with the geotechnical engineering report recommendations (Northern Colorado Geotech Project No.063-11, dated September 5, 2012). The soil exposed at the upper and lower foundation level consisted of lean clay with sand. These materials are similar to those encountered by Northern Colorado Geotech during our subsurface exploration at the site (Project No. 063-11, dated September 5, 2012). Based on our observations and the recommendations of the geotechnical engineering report, it is our opinion that the proposed residence should be supported by a drilled pier .foundation system. The foundation should be designed in accordance with the recommendations and specifications provided in the geotechnical engineering report. Bedrock was encountered within 2 feet of the lower foundation level. Therefore we recommend the installation of an exterior perimeter drain around the lower level of the structure. The dewatering system should be constructed in accordance with recommendations of the geotechnical engineering report. Collins, Colorado Advanced Engineering, LLC Project Number 1771-01-04B Dear Mr. Tschetter: On February 25 and 26, 2013 we visually observed the foundation wall teinfotdWplaced in the forms for the residence being constructed at the above referenced site: It is our opinion the reinforcement was in general conformance with our Foundation Plan, Project Number 1771-01-04A, and our recommendations for field modifications as required by site conditions. We also observed the UFER ground rod was embedded in the concrete at the northeast corner of the foundation. The conclusions presented in this letter are not intended to cover structural items other than those listed, site grading/elevations, setbacks, subsurface soil conditions, or architectural features of the building.
