Re: 807 Columbia

On December 5; 2012 1 visited the referenced site.as. requested. The purpose
of this visit was to determine the feasibility of cutting an egress window in the
basement wail.
The house is one-story wood framed with a full basement. The basement
walls are 8" thick concrete. The. window is to be placed near the north end of
the east basement wall in the location Hof an`existfi 30" wide by 20" tall
window. The new window will either be the same width but deeper to meet.
egress requirements or will be a 4' by. 4' slider. The,_ east wall supports floor
and partial roof.
Based on the proposed windows and existing, construction it is. my opinion it is
feasible to cut the window in the. proposed location. If the window is the same
width or narrower than the existing then: a.supplemental header is not required
provided the concrete over the window is not disturbed. If a 4' by 4' window is
used then it is recommended a (3)-1 3/4 x 7 114" LVL header be installed over the
window opening in the east wall supported on treated. 2x8 window bucks.
