Re: Construction Observation and Testing
3409 Buntwing Lane
Fort Collins, Colorado
EEC Project No. 11-01-222
Ms. O'Neill:
On February 29 and March 1, 2012, a representative of Earth Engineering Company, Inc.
(EEC) provided construction observation and testing for the referenced project. The
construction observation and testing was completed on a part -rime, on -call basis and
included field density testing of fill placed to develop subgrade and foundation bearing
for the referenced. residence.. The results of the construction observation and testing
completed during the referenced period are included with this report.
On the referenced dates, an EEC representative completed field density testing on newly
placed structural fill materials in the area of the referenced residence. The field density
testing was conducted at random locations and elevations within the structural fill and
was performed in general accordance with ASTM Specification D-2922. Results of a
previously completed laboratory- standard Proctor test were used to calculate the percent
compaction achieved in the field. Since the fill soils used consisted of imported Class-7
granular structural fill materials, we recommended those materials be placed in loose lifts
not to exceed 9 inches in thickness and compacted to be at least 95% of the material's
maximum dry density as determined in accordance with ASTM designation D-698, the
standard Proctor procedure. It was recommended the materials be adjusted to a workable
moisture content at the time of compaction.

The final field density test results are shown on the attached summary sheet and met the
project requirements for compaction and, as such, could be used for support of the
foundation footings using the design net allowable total load soil bearing pressure of
1,500 psf

EEC Project No. 11-01-222
Ms. O'Neill:
EARTH ENGINEERING
COMPANY, INc.
As requested, Earth Engineering Company, Inc. (EEC) personnel have completed the
construction observation services you requested for the referenced project. Those services
included observations of the foundation drain placement and damp proofing at the
referenced address. The results of those observations are included with this report.
On March 20, 2012, EEC personnel observed the foundation drain for the referenced
project. The foundation drain consisted of 4-inch flexible perforated pipe enclosed in a
filter sock and bedded in `pea' gravel around the below grade exterior perimeter of the
structure and was sloped to drain to a sump pit in the basement. The damp proofing
consisted of a grey spray -on coating that appeared to cover all exterior below grade living
areas of the basement walls.
We appreciate the opportunity to be of service to you on this project. If you have any
questions regarding this report, or if we can be of further service to you in any way,
please do not hesitate to contact us.
Very truly yours,
