The soils noted at the bottom of the crawlspace excavation consist primarily of light brown silty sandy clay. The soils noted at the bottom of the garage excavation also consist primarily of light brown silty sandy clay. The soils noted in the excavations are generally consistent with the soils profiles provided by Empire Laboratories, Inc. in the geotechnical investigation report for Eastgate Apartment Complex titled "Report of a Soils and Foundation investigation and Development Corporation, Fort Collins, Colorado"; E.L.I. Project Number 1148-72; report dated April 24, 1972. Boring Logs No. 6 and 10 were the borings taken on this site. Boring Log No. 10 indicated sandy clay to a depth of three and one half feet (3.5'), underlain by silty sandy clay to a depth of six and one half feet (6.5% underlain by sand, gravel and cobbles to a depth of fifteen feet (15% the bottom of the boring. This lot is suitable for a spread footing foundation system. The foundation plan for the proposed residence prepared by Shear Engineering Corporation, dated January 2005 was used. Footings were designed for a maximum allowable bearing capacity of 2,500 pounds per square foot (dead load plus full live load) and a minimum dead load of 750 pounds per square foot according to the recommendations of the geotechnical investigation report referenced. It was determined that a perimeter drain system was not required based on the depth of excavation. Shear Engineering Corporation was present on Wednesday, July 13, 2005 for footing formwork and footing reinforcing placement observations. Shear Engineering Corporation was present on Monday, July 18, 2005 and Wednesday, July 20, 2005 for foundation wall reinforcing placement observations.
