Gentlemen:
On May 11, 1989, an engineer from Empire Laboratories, Inc. visited the
above -referenced site, as requested. The purpose of this visit was to
render an opinion regarding the structural capacity of the existing
Simpson hanger supporting one end of a hip master truss at the
above -referenced residence.
Based upon the imposed loads and the hanger type, it is our opinion that
the existing hanger is adequate to support the imposed loads. As
recommended, the hanger has been nailed with 16d nails to the Micro=lam
beam. An additional piece of Micro=lam was added to the top of the beam
to provide nailing for that portion of the hanger above the beam.
In summary, it is our opinion that the existing hanger as nailed is
adequate to support the imposed loads.
