At your request, we have reviewed the construction materials testing documentation prepared
by Terracon during construction phases of the referenced project. Our services on the project
have included performing laboratory testing of the soils for compliance with the project
specifications and the Supplemental Geotechnical Engineering Report recommendations
prepared by Terracon (Project No. 20065070 dated June 1, 2006). Terracon also performed in -
place field density testing during placement of the fill to check maximum density and moisture
control. We also performed concrete testing, reinforcing steel inspections, foundation
excavation observations, masonry testing and observations, and concrete slab vapor emission
testing. All testing and observations were performed on an "as requested" basis.
Earthwork
As recommended in the soils investigation, on -site or approved imported soils were suitable for
placement during construction. Laboratory tests indicated fill material tested by Terracon met
the recommendations as outlined in the geotechnical report. The results of the field and
laboratory testing were forwarded for review. In addition, the on -site superintendent and
subcontractors were informed on a daily basis of the test results performed.
Terracon performed 50 in -place moisture-density/compaction tests for the foundation backfill,
and building and slab -on -grade subgrade placement. The tests at the locations indicated met or
ultimately achieved (after retesting) compaction specification requirements.
Our test results represent only the materials at the location and time of testing. Terracon did
not direct nor control the fill placement and compaction at the site and does not assume
responsibility for the placement, compaction or control of the fill materials. Areas of fill which
are not representative of our testing may exist, particularly in common fill areas such as slopes
or landscaped areas outside the limits of the building pad. The foundation type and specific
design for structure will be recommended based on the particular characteristics of the soil type

at foundation depth, and on the basis of further evaluations and observations prior to
construction.
Concrete
Portland cement concrete was placed on -site for footings, walls, slabs -on -grade, sidewalks, and
column pads. Eleven samples were tested for physical properties including slump, air content,
unit weight, and compressive strength. The reports indicate the specified minimum
compressive strength requirements for the project have been achieved. It is recommended that
the project structural engineer review the observation reports for acceptance as meeting the
project criteria.
Reinforcing Steel
Terracon provided observation of steel reinforcement placement in structural concrete
placements as requested. The observations were performed per the provided plans and
specifications for the project and have been formally reported to the client and designated
parties. It is recommended that the project structural engineer of record review the test reports
for acceptance as meeting the project criteria.
Foundation
Terracon performed observations of the foundation system construction as requested during
construction activities. A summary of the observations and structural review response items
were provided in written reports upon completion. Based on our observations, foundation
construction operations were performed in general accordance with the plans and specifications
and the spread footing foundations were placed on the anticipated bearing material identified in
our geotechnical report. We also observed helical pier installations and recommended that the
project structural engineer of record review the test reports for acceptance as meeting the
project criteria.
Masonry Testing and Observations
Five sets of grout samples, five sets of mortar samples, and five sets of masonry assemblages
were obtained for compressive strength testing during construction. Test results met or
exceeded the required minimum strength specified for the project. In addition, observations of
construction procedures and reinforcing steels placed within masonry were performed on an as -
requested basis. It is recommended that the project structural engineer of record review the
test reports for acceptance as meeting the project criteria.

Structural Steel Observation
Terracon
Inspex ndt. provided structural steel/weld observations. Observation results were provided to
on -site personnel at the time of the visit with a written report. The observation reports prepared
by Inspex ndt indicate that structural steel/welds are acceptable per the provided plans. It is
recommended that the project structural engineer review the observation reports for
acceptance as meeting the project criteria.
Miscellaneous Observations
Vapor emission testing was performed at frequencies selected by our client and were evaluated
by the contractor per the provided construction requirements.
All observations and/or recommendations were provided in a written report. It is recommended
that the project structural engineer and/or architect review the observation reports for
acceptance as meeting the project criteria.
Closure
This report has been prepared for the exclusive use of providing test data and observations to
document the earthwork, reinforcing steel, concrete, and structural steel operations conducted
for the proposed project. The opinions and conclusions presented have been derived in
accordance with generally accepted geotechnical and material engineering practice. No other
warranty expressed or implied is made. In the event that there are any changes in the nature or
design of the project, the conclusions contained in this report shall not be considered valid
unless this firm reviews such changes, and the conclusions of this report are modified or
verified in writing.
This letter is prepared for the exclusive use and reliance of our client. Use or reliance by any
