Howes • P.O. Box 503 Fort Collins, Colorado 80521-0503 (970) 484-0359 Fax: (970) 484-0454 On October 15, 2001, a representative from Terracon observed the foundation excavation for the above referenced lot within the Waterglen Subdivision in north Fort Collins, Colorado, as requested. The soil conditions exposed within the foundation area consisted of clayey sand fill material and sandy lean clay. The soil encountered is similar to that described in our Geotechnical Engineering Report prepared for the site and dated January 5, 1994 (please refer to our Project No. 20935286). Based on our observations, it is recommended the structure be supported by a spread footing foundation system designed in accordance with the recommendations set forth in the report. At the time of the observation, no bedrock or free groundwater was encountered within 3-feet of the foundation area. However, based on recommendations set forth in the Geotechnical Engineering Report, as well as to minimize the potential for surface water infiltration or groundwater fluctuations from entering the crawl space, it is our opinion a dewatering system should be placed around the lower level of the structure. The drainage system should be installed and constructed in accordance with the recommendations set forth in the geotechnical engineering report.
