STRUCTURAL MOMENTS, INC. 3173 San Luis Street Fort Collins, CO 80525 (970) 225-0758 City of Fort Collins Building Department 281 North College Avenue Fort Collins, CO RE: Roof at 3400 South College Avenue Dear Sharon: January 14, 1998 I have been requested by Francisco Galvan to analyze the adequacy of the roof structure for carrying new mechanical units, for the proposed Las Margaritas restaurant. I I have spoken by phone with Gene, the mechanical designer, and he has provided me with the weights and dimensions of the proposed roof -top units. The duct furnace, 41-1/4" x 26", weighing 286 pounds, is equivalent to a 38 psf load. The evaporative cooler, 39-1/2" square, weighing less than 200 pounds, is equivalent to less than 18 psf. i This morning I went to the site of the proposed restaurant, met with Francisco, and he showed me the location where the new mechanical units would be installed. I walked on the roof myself, and observed where the existing ductwork through the parapet wall would be abandoned to provide a space for the new ductwork from the new units. Fortunately, the new units do not necessitate creating a new roof penetration. Based on the relatively low distributed load values, and my first-hand observation of the roof, I consider that the roof is structurally adequate to carry the two proposed mechanical units. Very truly yours, J elle K. Rohrbai I Project # 98-05-01
