Dear Ms. Glasgow:
The revised plans and additional specifications for the
construction of Ridgewood Day School and Child Care Center to be
located at 6606 Avondale Road, Fort Collins, Colorado have been
reviewed by t is Department. The following items were not clearly
specified in the plans or were not in compliance with the
Department's requirements for child care operations. These items
need to be clearly specified in writing or the plans modified to be
in compliance with the Rules and Regulations Governing the
Sanitation of Child Care Centers in the State of Colorado. The
following items correspond to the Department's plan review letter
of September 23, 1997.
1) Please submit the detailed playground equipment schedule once
you receive it.
3). Room finish requirements:
a) FRP wall finish is approved.
b) Vinyl flooring and cove base is acknowledged. This room
is_now,adequate for the storage of food and other food
service supplies. - _
c) The installation of FRP on the walls around the mop sinks
is acknowledged.
d) Acknowledge.
e) Vinyl flooring and cove base is acknowledged. This room
is now adequate for the storage of food and other food
service supplies.
f) Melamine finish and sealed (lacquer) finishes on cabinets
and plastic laminate counter tops are approved.

4) , Food Service Operations:
c) The relocation of the small refrigerators away from the
diaper changing areas is acknowledged.
d) It is acknowledged that the double oven and ice maker
will not be installed.
g) 3-Compartment warewashing sink:
1) 17" x 17" x 14" compartments are approved.
2) Drainage to a floor sink is approved.
h) Dishmachines :— - - - - --
1) Water usage of 8.8 gallons per cycle is
acknowledged for the dishmachines.
2) Drainage to a floor sink is approved..
i) Drainage of the preparation sink to sewer through a bell
funnel is approved.
j) A water heater that can achieve a minimum recovery rate
of 73.3 gallons/hour if gas, or has a 81,434 BTU rating
is required for the kitchen. The AO Smith water heater,
model BTC-120 (114 gallons/hour) is approved.
6) Acknowledged.
8) A water heater that can achieve a minimum recovery rate of 116
gallons/hour at a 70OF rise if gas, or has a 108,223 BTU
rating is required for the water heater servicing the fixtures
in the restrooms, classrooms and laundry area. The AO Smith
water heater, model FSG-50 (52.6 gallons/hour at a 70OF rise)
is not approved. A larger water heater that meets the above
listed requirements or a series of two water heaters that meet
_ the.xequirments must be installed.- Please provide information
detailing how this issue will be addressed.

Items #8 can be submitted either in written form or as an
addendum to the plans submitted. The written plans submitted are
roved at this time. Be advised approval of pans, inc u ing the
above mo i Ica ns, does not constitute acceptance of the
completed structure. An inspection of the premises must be
conducted by this department prior to approval for operation and
licensure recommendations. Failure to follow the recommended
changes may prevent or delay this office's approval of the
establishment.
Please notify the department at least 48 hours prior to your
opening date so that a final acceptance inspection can be
performed.. Be ,advised; -Colorado Department of Human Services
regulations require approval of the center by the Health Department
prior to licensure of the facility.
