Re: Field inspection of roof damage from a fallen tree limb at 1715 Vilest
Mountain Avenue, Fort Collins, Colorado.
Dear Jeff,
This letter covers the field inspection performed on 9-22-2000. The information
collected at the site is as follows:
1. A fallen tree limb broke through the roof causing a large hole.
2. Four or five existing roof trusses were damaged including the roof
sheathing and the exterior roofing material.
3. The exterior and interior bearing walls supporting the existing roof trusses
do not appear to have been damaged. Also a non -bearing wall located in
the hallway does not appear to have been damaged.
Advanced Professional engineering recommends the following modifications to
repair the damaged areas of the roof:
1. Install 1 %" x 9'/2" 1.9E Microllam LVLs at 24" on centers adjacent to the
top chord of each existing damaged roof truss (see Sketch #1 attached).
2. Install 2" x 8"s at 24" on centers adjacent to the bottom chord of each
existing damaged roof truss (see Sketch #1 attached)
3. Install 2" x 4"s at 24" on centers adjacent to the existing 2" x 4"s at the
interior bearing wall location (see Sketch # 1 attached).
If you should have any questions concerning the information in this report,
please feel free to contact this office at 970-484-0533.
ncerely,
