ITEMS OBSERVED:
01. Expansion joint material at concrete band should be held down to
allow for sealant on top, as detailed and specified.
02. North side Building A, third bay: cut stone should be placed as a
sill below the storefront to match the existing stone band to the
north, re-establishing the existing line.
03. Building A - cast iron entry: stabilize stone pillar on west side
of entry.
04. Building A, door #5: SLP has received verbal approval from the
Building Department to swing door in, instead of out, so that the
handicap access is workable.
05. The City has inspected and approved some of the work in Trimble
Court. While it may be functionally okay, aesthetics is a prime
concern. SLP needs to request the City take this into
consideration.
06. Jim Reidhead to have City review the fire stair situation out of
the Avery Building into Trimble Court.
07. The 10" level differential
between the 2nd floors of
Buildings E
and F will be resolved as follows:
The floor of F will
be lowered
to meet E at the doorway.
A ramp
extending to the east along the
common wall will lead back
up to
the existing level
of E. SLP
will have Weingardt review
this
scheme structurally
and provide
details.
08. Building G, Pella windows: The sills, on the windows supplied, do
not extend far enough to lap over the joint between the masonry
and the sheathing. Flashing of the sills is mandatory to prevent
leakage.
09. Several utility covers throughout the site are not at the correct
finish elevation and need to be adjusted so that they are flush
with finish grade.

ITEMS OBSERVED:
10. Concrete surrounding storm manhole at curb along Walnut (north of
Building B) is poured too low and does not meet surrounding paver
finish elevations. This elevation change creates a "trip," is a
hazard to pedestrians and is rejected as poured.
11. Installed pavers between Walnut and Buildings A and B have shifted
towards Walnut leaving a gap (as large as 1 1/2" in some areas)
between the concrete banding and pavers. This gap poses a -
potential hazard to the pedestrian. Madsen is requested to review
with Soderberg how this can be corrected and avoided in the
future.
12. Concrete encased city power bank in alley to west of Building A is
posing a potential problem for the cobble paver installation in
the Walnut Street/Trimble Court intersection. The duct is laid at
a high elevation in relation to the surrounding paver work. Heath
is going to look into potential conflicts in this area. A
discussion as to how far to the west the paver apron should extend
along Walnut came up but is still unresolved. Jim Reidhead will
investigate options with the City.
13. Trimble Court alley: Paving work was reviewed and rejected based
on quality of the work and the ponding created to the west of A.
14. The new storm inlet in west Trimble Court by Artisans is not
square within itself or any surrounding buildings and is therefore
rejected as discussed with Sue (Schmidt) and Mark (MWB).
15. Two existing inlets in curb and gutter at Artisans are to have
concrete poured over manhole covers. Heath will saw cut out
approximately 1'-0" from each side of manhole and repour new
gutter.
16. Concrete banding in West Trimble Court should be poured next to
buildings (as typical)_ and ioa_ araLuui buildings- as necessary-.

Present Chief Building Official (CBO):

SLP, A PROFESSIONAL CORPORATION (SLP):
MEETING OBJECTIVE: To identify major code concerns.
?TE LIS- D1,SC9SSED_
1. Gayle Udall briefly reviewed the project scope for
the Chief Building Official after introducing SLP
as the managing architect and Downing -Leach as the
associate architect.
2. Code issues as they relate to historic buildings
were discussed in a general manner due to the
present schematic nature of the building and
exterior space use concept plans. These code
issues include the following:
a. Skylights - existing skylights over occupied
space must follow the general guidelines of
Chapter 34. Other vertical faces within
clerestory structures (such as light monitors)
are not skylights by definition.
b. Local handicap pedestrian codes are less
restrictive than the 1979 UBC, with no
requirement for 5' diameter circle within
toilet areas.
c. Interpretation of a corridor versus an
intervening room, will have to be made as plans
become more defined.
d. Exit stairways of two stories do not have to be
enclosed.
