Dear Mr. Kline
As requested I have reviewed the structural capacity of the existing fence at the referenced site
to resist wind loads. The fence is an 8' tall solid cedar fence with 3-2x6 rails and 4x6 posts at 6'
on center. The posts are embedded in a 10" diameter by 4' deep concrete pier.
Based on the existing construction and a 100-mile per hour wind it is my opinion additional
posts are required to resist the wind load.
It is recommended a 4x6 post be added between each existing post for a maximum post
spacing of 3'. The post should be embedded in a 12" diameter by 4' deep concrete pier.
If I can be of further assistance please contact me.
Sincerely, ,
