RE: TRUSS INSPECTION @ 512 SYCAMORE
To Whom It May Concern:
Our office has performed an "on -site" inspection of the existing roof substructure
at the referenced address. Our inspection was limited to the area located on the
west portion of the roof, which had previous fire damage. Based on our
observation the rafters located directly above the brick chimney is in need of
remediation. Our office recommends that the existing 2x4 roof rafters be left in
place as well as installation of new 2x4 members alongside all of the roof rafters
in the west roof section. The new 2X4 member shall be nailed @ 16" o.c. with
16d nails into the existing rafters and extend full length. We would furthermore
recommend that a 2x6 collar ties be installed approximated 18° to 24" form the
ridge board. We also noted that some of the roof sheathing is in need of repair.
The sheathing areas in need of repair should be support with a new layer of
7/16" OSB board, cut to fit between the rafters and support with 2x2 or the new
2x4 members. The following is a sketch showing the west roof area and the
rafter members.
