RE: LPI Joist Blocking
Dear Mr. Smith:
Per the Louisianna-Pacific publication entitled LPI Joists 32 Series Technical Data for Residential
and Commercial Floor and Roof Applications, "blocking is recommended, but not required, at
interior bearing supports if there is no load -bearing wall above the bearing wall below." It is our
opinion that this statement applies to 23 Series Joists as well. In summary, if there is not a
bearing wall above the supporting wall, blocking is not structurally required.
