Phipps Bryan Marvin - A&H vvnln iry rKuumchsS: Continuous footings for the cable vault have been poured. The forms for the cable vault walls have been erected and the reinforcing has been placed. OBSERVATIONS AND ACTION REQUIRED: - Horizontal keys must be formed in the pocket where the buildings' continuous footing is being pocketed into the cable vault wall along Grid 8, between Grids A and B. Use (3) 1 1/2" x 3 1/2" keys total, (1) placed at the continuous footing and (2) placed at the stem wall. - The #4 corner bars between the cable vault walls and the structural slab, shown in section 1, sheet 53.1, must be either tied in prior to pouring the walls or stabbed in after the walls have been poured, method at contractor's option. Subsequent to site visit - A question was raised by G.H. Phipps concerning the reinforcing in the cable vault walls. The #4 vertical reinforcing for the cable vault walls was installed at 12" spacing instead of the 10" spacing which was specified in section 1, sheet 53.1, of the construction documents. We have checked our design of these walls for the greater vertical reinforcing spacing and have determined that the 12" spacing is acceptable.
