The referenced project was visited on 30 April 1997 to observe the
installation of one R-brace on gridline 10 between gridlines J and J.9,
to replace an existing X-brace. The following was noted:
1. Five -inch square steel tubes were in place, and appeared to be
accurately fitted and welded in accordance with the detail
sketches prepared by our office. Visually, welds appeared to be
of sufficient size and length at both ends of each tube.
2. Tube base had been fitted over existing strap connection plate and
welded to it.
3. Stiffener plates had been fitted and welded to both sides of the
beam above, as per the details.
The installation appeared to be structurally adequate and complete.
