On January 23, 1997 a representative of Terracon Consultants Western, Inc. visited the
referenced site as requested. The purpose of this visit was to render an opinion based
on visual observations and site measurements regarding the support of the second floor
cantilever at the northeast corner of the structrure.
Based on the existing construction it is recomended a column be added at the corner of
the cantilever. The column should be a 3" diameter 11 gage adjustable, steel pipe
column. The column may bear on the slab in the tool shed provided the slab is at least
3 1/2" thick. If the slab is less than 3 1/2" thick a 16" x 16" x 8" concrete pad should be
placed beneath the pipe column bearing on undisturbed soil.
Additionally a 2x8 should be added to the north and east side of the cantilever extending
from the column to the bearing walls.
