from plaintiff Mark Milliman indicating that his lawyer is in the hospital
with a life-threatening illness (not identified) and requesting an extension
(not specified) of the deadline for a response to the pending motions to
dismiss. There is no indication that Mr. Milliman attempted to confer with
opposing counsel. By the Court's calculation the responses are due on or
about November 23, 2020. The file indicates that plaintiff is represented
by one attorney, Mark Christopher Patlan. In the circumstances, and not at
the time knowing the nature or extent of counsel's illness or the length of
time that he might be unable to proceed or to obtain substitute counsel,
the Court sua sponte extends the response date to December 11, 2020.
The Court requests a joint status report from the parties, in writing and
filed in the file of this case, after conferral, as soon as possible. The Court
