RE: The Preserve at the Fort
Dear Mr. Hegge:
It is standard practice to reimburse developers for oversizing streets larger than a
residential standard. The City has established a street oversizing fund which is used
to reimburse these costs in accordance with Section 24-121 of the City Code.
With this P.U.D., the developer is required to construct Drake Road along its abutting
frontage to arterial street standards. Upon completion of the construction, the City will
reimburse the developer for the costs of the oversized portion.
The developers obligation would be the local access portion which Jd include:
curb and gutter, a four foot wide sidewalk, and a twelve foot wide aspnalt travel lane.
The City's oversized portion would be: any additional sidewalk over 4' in width, all
additional pavement over the 12' wide travel lane (14' from the flowline of the curb
and gutter), medians, striping, and extensions of service lines across the additional
width. The oversized portion may include a portion of the earthwork, engineering,
staking, and engineering design costs.
Upon completion of the construction, the developer is required to submit appropriate
documentation of the costs of the work. Upon review of the documentation, the City
normally will reimburse the developer within three to four weeks of receipt of the
request.
