New Beginnings, pipe protection Dear Bob: At your request we have conducted resistivity testing of the New Be- ginnings Project site for use in determining the protection requirements for buried cast iron or ductile iron pipe. The results of the tests are as follows: Resistivity, Location Probe Spacing, Ft. ohm - cm TH-2 4 1516 12 2573 Based on the resistivity test results we recommend the buried pipe be bedded and surrounded with six inches (6") of sand backfill. No plastic sleeve is required around the pipe but is recommended for all applications by some pipe manufacturers to promote longer life of the pipe.
