W."Bill" Riddell Senior Vice President -Banking Division July 11, 1980 Mr. Robert Smith Storm Drainage Engineer City of Fort Collins 300 LaPorte Ave. Fort Collins, CO 80521 Dear Mr. Smith: FIRST NATIONAL BANK 205 West Oak, Fort Coll i ns. Coloratlo 80521 Telephone 482-4861 Please accept this letter as First National Bank's request for a variance of the City's storm drainage retention requirements on our drive -up facility located at 201 West Olive Street in Fort Collins. The First National Bank is in the process of relocating the entrance to this facility from Mason to Howes Street. In our efforts to gain maximum utility of this site, we have discovered that the 4500 cubic feet storm water retention curbing requirement will be a burden and hardship on the operation of this facility during the winter months. In order to satisfy the retention requirement it will be necessary to construct a curb approximately 72' long and 12" high along our main driveway. While this curbing will serve as a ponding agent it will also seriously hamper our ability to remove snow efficient- ly and economically. Further, since this site is also used as an employee parking lot we are concerned about pedestrian safety and the danger of them slipping on the ice when the water becomes frozen. Consequently we are asking that the retention requirement be re- duced from 4500 cubic feet to 13-1500 cubic feet. Further, we are also seeking permission to move this water into the City system An Affiliate of•; Western Bancorporation Mr. Robert Smith July 11, 1980 Page Two via Mason Street and the alley to the South of our property. We do not feel this arrangement will have an adverse impact on the property in the area. (See attached sheets for flow data.) Your favorable consideration of this request will be appreciated. Please advise if you require additional data or information. Respectfully submitted, L.W."Bill" Riddell LWR:cm Attachment Clly(N 1010 )IIINS ENGINEERING DIVISION July 16, 1980 P.O. This project was completed on a 2.067 acre site at the southwest corner of Boardwalk Drive and the JFK Parkway. This Follow up letter addresses three areas that we discussed to finalize this project. 1) The erosion control measures are installed and complete per our plans. 2) The riprap area at Pond "B" has been reshaped and is complete and drains south per field shots. 3) The debris and excess dirt pile have been removed. Note: there are small topsoil areas that will be smoothed and blended along with the sprinkler installation backfill to finish ground elevation for sodding. As a result of our field review, I feel that the drainage improvements are in substantial conformance with the reports and plans approved by the City of Fort Collins for this development. Please feel free to contact me should you have additonal questions.
