Dear Mr. Bingman:
Project No. 62 00 018
Re: 24" Storm Drain in
Fairview "West",
Sixth Filing
We have reviewed our design sheets for the 24 inch storm drain in Fairview
"West", Sixth Filing with regard to the six inch dip which was constructed
in the line at the back of Lots 9 and 10 of Fairview "West", Sixth Filing.
As the controlled inlet and outlet conditions and the hydraulic gradient
have not been affected, the only result of this small dip is a small increase
in the friction factor of the storm drainage line. This increase in the
friction factor will have a negligible effect on the carrying capacity of
the pipe. At design capacity, the velocity of the water in this pipe is
about five feet per second, which will prevent settlement of any solids which
might enter the system. Therefore, we feel that this dip will not affect the
ability of this 24 inch storm drain pipe to handle the ten year design storm.
If you have further questions concerning this matter, please contact us.
Very truly yours,
NELSON, HALEY, PATTERSON, and QUIRK, INC.
