Upgrade construction began in late 2019 and will continue through 2020. With this grant approximately 60 stops will be upgraded and 10% were completed in 2019. Additionally, 50 new bus stop shelters will be placed at stops currently without amenities. E-TICKETING APP LAUNCHED Transfort launched a new mobile ticketing application called Transfort E-ticket giving riders the ability to buy tickets via their mobile device. Riders simply scan their mobile barcode tickets on the new electronic validation devices when boarding the bus. Validation devices were installed on the entire fleet. CHANGES TO ROUTES 6 AND 12 The realignment of Routes 6 and 12 allows for better on-time performance for these routes contributing to the overall efficiency of the entire system. NEW FLEET BUSES Transfort added 6 new compressed natural gas buses to the fleet with Federal and local funding. MAX TURNS 5 CELEBRATION In May 2019, we celebrated the fifth anniversary of our MAX Bus Rapid Transit Service. MAX is the most used service in the Transfort system with over 4,000 riders per day. ADOPTION OF TRANSIT MASTER PLAN The City adopted the Transit Master Plan which provides guidance to grow and improve transit service over the next 10-20 years. Focus is on expanding bus rapid transit, increasing frequencies, improving connections, expanding coverage of the transit network, and adding regional routes.
