The purpose of this item was to provide Council with an overview of recommendations and considerations for homeless shelters and co-located services from the City Manager’s (temporary) Homelessness Advisory Committee, made up of multi-sector community members and service providers, and to seek guidance on next steps. General Feedback:  Appreciation for valuable contribution of committee members.  Support for proposed next steps. o Emphasis on ensuring diverse perspectives on committee. o Consider bringing in additional regional and durable partners. o Ensure clarity on role that smaller group will play – not decision makers. o Would like a residency requirement to be considered  Agreed with findings on need for 24/7 facilities. o Need emergency shelter for short lived homelessness.  Health and opportunity for people experiencing homelessness is linked to community wellbeing.  Support for continuing a regional dialogue. Next Steps:  Convene a balanced subset of the HAC, plus additional strategic partners, to focus on potential impacts and opportunities, sharing recommendations for implementation with City Council in 2021.
