Neighbor Outreach to Vulnerable Populations
This memo is in response to March 31th
City Manager request at the City Council
Meeting for updated information on Adopt A Neighbor outreach to vulnerable
populations.
Adopt A Neighbor, which connects volunteers with neighbors in need, was expanded by
Volunteer Services and Neighborhood Services to respond rapidly to the needs of
neighbors with higher risks of contracting COVID-19. Recognizing that traditional
outreach channels may not reach the most vulnerable residents, Staff is using the
following outreach methods for the program:
• Distribution of printed materials in Spanish and English on Adopt A Neighbor and
Utilities Assistance programs to 55+ mobile home park communities. Distribution
of printed materials in other senior residential living facilities is being conducted
by property managers, not City Staff.
• Direct communication with property management and multifamily housing.
contacts through Neighborhood Services and Utilities Customer Connections to
provide informational flyers and newsletter articles for management to
disseminate to residents.
• Direct communication with stakeholder groups, partner organizations, previous
participants in City programs, departmental newsletter subscribers, and HOA
leadership contacts to provide information and newsletter articles.
• Adopt A Neighbor Coloradoan article scheduled to print for “In the City” space.
• Passive communication through social media and NextDoor posts.
