Bottom Line:
The Human Relations Commission (HRC) is pleased to announce a training event sponsored by the HRC:
What About White Privilege? Training and Discussion Sessions on Racial Equity. The HRC respectfully
extends a special invitation to the Mayor, Councilmembers and City leaders. This event is also open to
the public.
Background:
A primary HRC function is, “To promote positive interaction among all City residents and to discourage all
forms of discrimination … by developing and promoting educational programs and activities that advocate
awareness and respect for diversity [Municipal Code, Article III, Division 4, §2-175(b)].
Transforming White Privilege is a curated curriculum, through a joint effort of The Center for
Assessment and Policy Development, MP Associates, and World Trust Educational Services, funded by
The W.K. Kellogg Foundation.
This training is designed to help current and emerging leaders from a variety of sectors better identify,
talk about and intervene to address white privilege and its consequences. More details here:

Tony Goggans, of Rubicon Institute for Inclusion, will facilitate the training and discussion.
Dates:
This training is split into two Thursday sessions: October 7 th and 21st, from 7:00 pm – 8:30 pm.
Location:
TBD based on public safety restrictions in effect. Updated information will be sent to registrants*.

If virtual: Zoom link provided through event registration
*Registration will be available soon, through EventBrite. An email notice will be sent out when it opens.
