RE: 2021 Business Appreciation Celebration October 7, 2021
The purpose of this memorandum is to provide City Council
Business Appreciation Celebration, formerly the Business Appreciation Breakfast.
BACKGROUND
Each year the Economic Health Office hosts a Business Appreciation Breakfast, which is attended by hundreds of
business owners and leaders from around the city. This year instead of a breakfast we are hosting a virtual
Business Appreciation Celebration on Thursday, October 7, 2021 at 3:00 p.m. MT.
The theme of this year's event is mental health and business, and our keynote speaker is Marah Lidey, CEO &
Co-founder of the mental wellness app Shine. The Shine app was named the top mental wellness app in 2020 by
Apple.
At each event, we prepare a video during the program that features various Fort Collins businesses that helps to
illustrate the real stories within our community. This year we will be sharing the powerful stories of five
businesses including, Woodward, IOME, Colorado Cutz, La Cocina, and R Bar. After the event, we will also share
INFORMATION FOR MAYOR:
Along with the keynote, Jackie Kozak-Thiel will be hosting the event, while Mayor Arndt and Interim City
Manager Kelly DiMartino will have brief speaking roles. All talking points will be provided several weeks prior to
the event. Two practice runs have been scheduled for Thursday, September 30, 2021, and the morning of the
event, Thursday, October 7, 2021, for Mayor Arndt, Kelly, and Jackie.
INFORMATION FOR ALL COUNCIL:
Gigi Ramirez will soon be updating your invitation with the link to register for the event. Once registered, you
will gain access to the appropriate YouTube link to watch the program. If you are unable to watch the day-of,
please note the event will be recorded in English and Spanish languages for later viewing. It is highly encouraged
that you invite your business constituents to attend the event and to learn more about the various mental
