RE: Term Limits of Urban Renewal Authority Board Members
The purpose of this memo is to inform the Board of the term limits for each Board member.
City Council Members
City Council members serve terms coterminous with their terms on City Council. City Council members
serve four-year terms and are limited to serving two, consecutive terms. The Mayor serves two-year
terms and is limited to three, consecutive terms. Fort Collins holds City Council elections in odd
numbered years. The term limits for each City Council member are as follows.
Members of City Council with terms ending in April 2021
Chair Wade Troxell (term limited)
Vice Chair Ross Cunniff (term limited)
Commissioner Susan Gutowsky
Commissioner Ken Summers
Members of City Council with terms ending in April 2023
Commissioner Julie Pignataro
Commissioner Emily Gorgol
Commissioner Kristin Stephens was elected to serve as a County Commissioner in November 2020.
Commissioner Stephens begins her service for the County Commissioners in January 2021, leaving a
vacant City Council and Urban Renewal Authority Board seat.
At Large Mayoral Appointee and Taxing Entity Representatives
The Mayor of Fort Collins appoints an at large representative to the Urban Renewal Authority Board.
The at large commissioner serves a four-year term. Commissioners representing other taxing entities
serve terms as designated by the respective appointing parties. The following indicates the term limits
for the at large Mayoral appointee and representatives from other taxing entities.
